The last few weeks I’ve been reading a lot about personal branding and career choice. Just as companies and products use marketing to advance and perpetuate their success, so can people. Thursday through Saturday in Minneapolis, about 60 of my fellow classmates and I congregated to learn about the Carlson program (as well as be wined and dined a bit).
This was a non stop three day meet and greet. Meeting new people is always difficult as the first impression is such an important aspect of developing a relationship. The fact that these people are all smarter than me is also a bit daunting. It was still a very good experience. There was a reason.
People wanted to speak with one another.
They made it a point to be attentive. They made it a point to care. You’d be surprised by how many people do neither.
